Samsungs new models A8 and A8+ were released this year and are said to be coming to the Indian market. According to Samsung’s latest tweet, the Galaxy A8+ will be available for sale on Amazon from 20th January. The launch event for the phone was held today (10th January) in India and the phone is priced at INR 32,900.
Coming to the specs, the A8+ has a screen size of 6.0″ with an 18.5:9 ratio. The display is FHD+Super AMOLED (1080*2220) with 410 pixels per inch. The battery capacity is 3500 mAH which is good enough. The phone is IP68 certified meaning it is dust and water resistant. It has a dual front camera out of which one is for a wider selfie whereas the other one can be used for Live Focus. The field of view for the Wide Selfie 8MP camera is about 85º whereas it is about 75º for the Live Focus 16MP camera. The rear camera is also 16MP and has a Pro mode as well. The video recording can be done at 1080p 30fps and 720p 30fps. A 60fps option would’ve been better considering that the OnePlus 5 provides it as well at the same price range. It comes with the Exynos 7885 Octa-core (2.2GHz Dual + 1.6GHz Hexa) chipset and has Bluetooth 5.0 functionality as well. You can either choose the 4GB RAM variant or go for the 6GB one with an internal storage of 32/64GB. It does come with an expandable memory up to 256GB and allows the user to use Dual-SIMs.
Spec wise this phone looks great for its price range considering that not many phones provide an IP68 certification in this price range. Also, Samsung Pay and Bixby exclusive features are a bonus. This phone runs on Android 7.1.1 and will be updated to Android 8.0. It comes in four colours namely Black, Orchid Gray, Gold and Blue.
